I dont get it!

I am a daughter of an Owner of a small restaurant in Austin , TX. Its an established place, without all the publicity that most other restaurants do. We have loyal customers and we always get new people.

With all the other "Mexican" restaurants in Austin its hard to succeed, yet we are climbing the ladder.

One thing that really gets to me is people in Austin who think the big restaurants, for example; Chuy's, Guerro's , Maudie's, Las Manitas, etc. are good, in fact people think they are amazing and wont go anywhere else. Well I think those people need to wake up, and realize its not good, its actually terrible! I just don't get it! I have eaten at all those places, and I cant say that I hate every little thing there but, come on...great food? You have got to be kidding me! It is just overpriced, premixed, preheated, small portioned food.

I am not trying to be bitter here, I am very happy that they have fooled you all into thinking their food is actually good. They are savvy people and knew how to get to the top.

We entered the Annual Hot Sauce festival a few Years ago, I didn't think of doing it, but all of our customers told us we needed to! I thought, sure why not? whats there to lose? Well I found out...Good ol' Trudy's won, okay, sure that's cool, I knew we weren't going to win first because we don't advertise with the chronicle and as alot of people know they can be a little shady when it comes to some results of things; anyways Trudy's one 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!!!!!!! Are you kidding????? Just because they are different locations does not mean they are different restaurants. When I heard the results, I was dumbfounded. The judging its complete bull. That was just very wrong and not fair whatsoever!

I have many, many other things to say about Austin and the restaurant industry here.
